The thought of keeping up fitness throughout pregnancy or perhaps getting back in to fitness post pregnancy might have you feeling unnerved, overwhelmed or perhaps excited! All of these feelings are common and totally normal and after speaking to lots of mums and mums-to-be, it seems there is a huge mix of feelings about the pressures of exercise and the way you feel about your body throughout your pregnancy journey.

My aim is to make the process of pre and post natal exercise as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, through the safe practise of modified Pilates, Barre and core-strengthening exercises. These exercises will allow you to focus on your mind and body and will help you to stay aware of the importance of core strength and pelvic floor health, as well as helping you to stay calm whilst easing aches and pains brought on by postural changes. Most importantly, the feeling after completing a class and spending some essential time on you, only goes towards releasing those good endorphins, helping you to feel positive and proud of the changes to your body and be forever thankful for carrying and birthing a baby.

As you may know or can imagine, the recovery process can be tough – sleep deprivation, hormones, emotions, breastfeeding, and even physical pain all take their toll. The most important factor is to be kind and gentle with yourself and not to rush things and take on too much too soon.

My pre and post natal sessions are developed to aid your body in a safe and effective way. There are always options to enable you to work at a pace and level suited to you and your fitness ability. Depending on where you are in your pregnancy journey you may find one week changes to another and I encourage you to appreciate and listen to your body and feel comfortable and happy with the level of exercise you are doing, knowing you are working towards an individual goal. Classes are small and personal and often special friendships are formed between the participants which is inspiring to see.
